So, basically this book is Brother’s best friend (Hooking) up with his little sister.

The twists in this book were really fun to read, I felt really bad for the main female character Ava. Everything this girl went thru in this book, just floored me and she really handled it like a Queen.

Alex – I couldn’t get a handle on him at all, I still can’t he was trying to be a gangster, trying to be Mafia, he was just pure bad and honestly didn’t like him and still don’t like him. Everything that he did to Ava. Seriously no just no. It felt like the writer was taking key pieces of 50 shades and writing her story around parts of the 50 shades of grey books. Don’t get me wrong I love 50 shades of grey. But it just reminded me of it. But as Brother’s best friend and his little sister.

It felt like this series is trying to put its toe into Dark Romance but it’s very Vanilla very start of something that could go darker but not yet there. It’s good for a starter series for young ladies that want to dip their toes into the dark romance books.

Let’s talk about the sex scenes, wow very 50 shades of grey, no joke it took its cues again from the 50 shades of grey BDSM book series and ran with it… It is NOT an instruction manual on how to write sex scenes in books for damaged dudes. I’m sorry I needed to say it.

Another thing I wanted to bring up. I LOVE how this girl was Asian American it’s so refreshing to not read another book with the blonde, blue eyed girl. I love the writer added her culture into her character and holiday traditions. That was so awesome to read, I’m saying Asian American because her family background. I didn’t know if she family was from Japan, China etc etc. So, I’m going to use Asian American as a reference to explain that.

Alright – Will I read the 2nd book; no, I hate to say that but no. As I said above this is great book for a young 20ish girl to dip their toe into Dark Romance. It’s a good starting point but for me. I need more Dark Romance with the characters a bit older and more experienced in life and love.
