Ok, I’m just going to jump in…

Trigger Warning – Rape and Drug use.

I wanted to like this book, because Romance and Mafia are my jam. I have read a lot, and I mean a lot of Mafia books. This book crossed a line for me, the subject material like seriously? I don’t understand why a writer would pick this subject material and decide hey this would make a great mafia book. Like Luna Mason what were you thinking? Seriously did it at all cross your mind. That maybe, just maybe this subject material might not be ok. To add as a romance, smut book? Cause, I know I would have stopped and thought you know this might have crossed a line or two.

I don’t care who reads this and thinks wow what a bitch, calling out Luna Mason. Because she is a writer, I don’t honestly care guys. Here is why..

I don’t care how “Romantic” you make it. You’re dealing with a subject that you can’t just cover up with romance and sex. To make it sound like it was a good idea. Your main character is a DRUG addict and a DRUNK. Running away from her past, add the main male character KDINAPPED her to play a game of Chicken with her family. Like, what made you go let’s make her a drug addict, let’s get her kidnapped and then let’s have her fall in love with the main character…. that would make a great story!!! Then to throw in her being forced to marry her rapist…. Bravo like wow what a great book, what a great subject to write about.

The only thing that I liked about this whole book, was the family that Luca had and created. I loved his mom and his brother and their wives and children.

I will never recommend a book with this subject and done so poorly and distasteful… I found this book just to be vile and don’t even get me started on the sex scenes with a girl. That has barely dealt with issues. Thinking oh let’s add lots and lots of sex. With someone that has barely faced what has happened to her.. with her KIDNAPPER!!! I’m sorry but this book was just disgusting… and I’m not sorry for saying so.

I won’t even be giving this book a star rating, cause honestly it doesn’t deserve it. I won’t be recommending her books, sorry not sorry. Because I don’t want anyone to think, I approve of books like this.

I don’t know what else to say, because I really don’t have anything nice to say about this book.

Why – This book crossed a line with me, Rape is a huge no, no for me in books. Then you add drugs and drinking. Then you wrap it around a romance book. Acting like that is totally normal thing. That is the answer to fixing the problem when it is not. Rape, is not a subject that should be written about like that careless and tasteless. It’s not a subject to sell books and call it “Mafia” romance. Again, sorry not sorry.
