Beneath the Stands by Emily Mcintire.

Well, I went back to Sugar Lake for a visit. I got to meet Eli and Rebecca.

I have to say I didn’t enjoy this story as much as I did with book one, Beneath the Stars. I don’t get me wrong Emily Mcintire is an amazing writer. her characters are always stunning, and the back stories are just insane. But this book was just not for me. There were so many things that I didn’t like with this book. First in for most I hated Rebecca’s family and I hated all the “Church stuff”. Not my cup of tea at all. It’s not a subject I want to read about. I found it really hard to read, I get that it’s Rebecca’s family trauma. But things like that make me lose interest in the book right off the bat. Then I had a really big issue with the fact that it felt like I was reading the same exact things happening in book 2 that was happening in book 1. I didn’t feel like there were many differences between the two. I also didn’t like how Emily left the ending, I would have loved to see more of an ending with this couple. Maybe in book 3 we will see more of an ending with them? Let’s hope because it just wasn’t finished for me.

Also, I couldn’t get into the whole Basketball thing, I don’t know anything about Sports. I honestly find that subject to be beyond boring. I don’t want to read about it; I don’t care about it. Right now, I’m not sure that I want to read book 3. From the brief introduction to book 3. I have to admit it’s not something that I’m interested in.

I feel bad for saying this because Emily Mcintire is one of those writers, that really blow you away with her amazing stories. But this time I just couldn’t get into it. This is just my opinion please take it with a grain of salt and check out her books. Especially the Never After Series, it’s one of my favorite collection hands down and her Defying the stars series.

For what I liked about this book – Rebecca is a strong character, and I enjoyed how strong she was. From the first page to the last. She is a character that you love to hate until she earns you to like and love her.

I liked that book 1 and book 2 – Were continuing with what happened to them, their friends and family. I liked that the story kept going and it made sense to what you were reading. You didn’t miss a beat between books. Which is great because I hate when you’re like wait, what?

Eli – I liked everything about Eli, and I could relate to what happened to him when he was playing Basketball. I loved how much he loved and how much he grew in this book. You can’t help but admire him.
