Wretched by Emily Mcintire.

Ok here we go… Wretched (Ever After Series)

This is a retelling of the Wizard of Oz and Wicked in the 21st century. I wanted to love it, I really, really did. But this is another retelling I just didn’t like with a passion. The spice was really good and that I will give a good shout out to. Something about Emily she can write a book with spice. But the story I just didn’t like. Drug dealers, cops and a love to hate relationship was just ya no, I couldn’t take it seriously at all. I kept wanting it to get better with each page and it just didn’t. I kept falling asleep and when that happens you know that it’s bad. Books shouldn’t put you asleep, it should grab you from page one and keep you wanting more. This book just didn’t do it for me. But as I have said in the last review I did of one of Emily’s books. She is an amazing writer, and I love several of her books. Scarred, Hexed and Hooked are some of my favorites in my collection and reads of 2025. But some retellings just don’t work for me. Sometimes leaving the classics alone is the best option. Then trying to make it into a retelling that is FAR from the original story. Which this is 100 percent. I couldn’t see them being drug dealers, and the antihero being a cop. I’m sorry it was just so twisted to me. But hey this is just my thoughts and reviews on Wretched by Emily Mcintire.
