Iron Flame the 2nd book to the Fourth Wing series, by the amazing Rebecca Yarros.
Let’s get into it, this was my 2nd time trying to read it, the first time I got so frustrated, and I ended up DNFing it pretty quickly. But I really wanted to read it since I loved Fourth Wing so much. I’m so glad that I did! It was worth it; this book had so much world building. It got deeper into the Violet’s family and Xaden’s family background. You, get more into the school and get to see Xaden’s home. Also, you get more into the Dragons, and you know the Dragons are everything. I love how Rebecca writes she is so good, describing this world she is writing about, the details are so prefect. You don’t want to put the book down. So, ya I read until 3 am because I didn’t want to stop. I would get a couple of chapters done and be like ok tomorrow night, I shall see you again book.
Here are a few things that annoyed me –
Violet – Always being pissed at Xaden for keeping secrets, I really don’t get why she didn’t understand. That he needed to keep secrets. To keep everything going on. Behind the scenes from getting out. It’s not like she was innocent she was keeping secrets as well. It’s a war college you’re not going to be able to tell your partner things.
Cat – Omg I hate her so much, I mean I hate her. What she was doing to Violet was so not cool. Such a mean girl and I honestly am so glad that Violet took her power back. But, man I wanted someone to kill her sorry not sorry.
It was good to see her and Dain finally work things out; I honestly was thrilled to see the friendship rekindle. Also, the new and old friends that joined them and it really made such a sweet thing to read. Violet really deserved to have friends that protect her and love her.
Now let’s talk Dragons! Omg the Pre-teen dragon Adrana, I swear she made me giggle so many times. Her voice, her attitude, and the way Tairn has so much patience. Even you could sense he wanted to kick her ass. Put her back with the Pre-teen dragons just to get a few mins to himself and Violet. We didn’t hear a lot from Sgaeyl this book. But when she made her voice heard, you heard it.
I recommend this series, it’s just getting better and better. I won’t give any details but the love, the romance, the dragons are EVERYTHING. I can’t wait to dive into book 3 Onxy Storm!!
