Rina Kent has become a favorite; I love her books she is one of those writers. You want to own every single book she has written and will write in the future.
The Cruel King is about Astrid and Levi’s love story. What a love story seriously I couldn’t put it down. I read it in 2 days!! 2 days because it’s just that good. Rina has a way with words, and her characters come to life on every single page.
Levi – Is the bad boy, the King of the School, Sports star (I think soccer or Rugby) I don’t really know and it didn’t say what sports he plays. But from the cover art I think it’s soccer. He is the kind of guy that throws a party and everyone wants to be invited. Girls want to be in his orbit and his bed. He is the kind of guy that gets himself into trouble. But nothing happens because you don’t cross the King family. He reminds me of Darrel Curtis from the Outsiders book by S. E. Hinton (Such an amazing character)
Astrid – The quiet girl that is invisible to everyone, the artist, the shy girl the girl that doesn’t want to be seen or noticed. She just wants to do art and not be bothered. Graduate and move on with her life. She reminds me of myself at her age. I really honestly felt for her. It would be really cool in the future if Rina Kent showed the kind of art. Astrid and her daughter Glydon made. I’m so curious to know if Rina Kent herself is an artist, like her female characters.
After a night that changed Astrid and Levi’s life, Levi takes notice of Astrid and well one thing leads to another and they become a couple. Like all love stories it’s starts to burn fast and quick. First love, first angst, first lust and then it burns out and turns into ash just as quick. It’s one of those love stories where you want them TOGETHER. You want them to have that happy ending and omg what an ending. I honestly shed a tear or two at the end of the book. Because the ending was PERFECT and I mean PERFECT. Like I’ve said Rina has a way with words and it just leaves you emotional, stunned and just overwhelmed with emotions.
Alright – Let’s give a huge shout out to Astrids best friend Dan, what a best friend omg I adore him so much!!! He is one of those guys that you can’t help falling for. I really hope he has his own book because he needs his happy ending.
Now – let’s talk about Adian, Levis cousin. Omg what a troublemaker!!! He had me laugh so many times. I loved every single cheeky thing that he did to his cousin Levi, regarding Astrid hahahahahahah. But honestly, I believe he did everything out of love for his cousin and for Astrid. I believe if he hadn’t done what he had done. Astrid and Levi wouldn’t have ended up together. He played “Cupid” over and over again for them. He is the kind of family member you want in your corner.
5 Stars, 2 thumbs up YES read this book, read the Legacy of Gods series. Read anything Rina Kent. She is just an amazing writer, and I can’t say enough of how good her work is.
