The Traditional Spanish Market was created in 1926 – 99 Years it’s been a full art experience on the Santa Fe Plaza, 2026 it will be 100 Years!! I’ve been going to this event since I was 7 Years old. Downtown itself hasn’t changed at all. Since the town of Santa Fe began. It’s where the local Apache tribes sell their wares at the Santa Fe Inn of the Governors. Every year the Spanish Market gets bigger and better. Artist from all over New Mexico come for this 2-day event. Saturday is when the Tourist get out there and buy up what they want for their homes or businesses that they have in another state, but Sunday is when the locals get out to hang out with friends that are selling to grab a corn on the cob and the best Watermelon juice on the planet. I love this event even if I can’t afford a piece of the art people sell. But man, I love looking at the beautiful pieces that are eye candy to say the least. One thing to know when you’re coming to visit this local event. Wear comfy shoes and bring an umbrella and of course always bring water to drink. Because my dear friends my little town gets very hot over the summer. I can’t wait to celebrate next year 100 Years!!! 🙂 Gosh I love my wonderful town of Santa Fe.
Oh a few of the artists – DarkDesignSugarDolls and Nik.Duran.Art you can find them on Instagram and Facebook. I wish I had a list of amazing artists I saw today. But sadly, I do not. It was very busy, and I didn’t get everyone’s name and business card. But I do imagine with all the posts of Spanish Market there is a list floating around.
