Like everyone else in the world. I’m part of the Labubu crave. I have two Nope and Love. But what are Labubu? Why have they become the next coolest thing to own? Who created them and why? Here is what Google had to say about Labubu.
Labubu is a small, collectable toy monster designed by Kasing Lung and sold through Pop Mart, a Chinese retailer. They are part of “The Monsters” series, which is inspired by Nordic mythology. Labubu dolls are known for their unique, elvish appearance, with pointed ears, wide eyes, and a mischievous grin.
Here’s a more detailed explanation:
- Origins:Labubu originated as a character in a series of picture books called “The Monsters” created by Kasing Lung.
- Design:They are small, furry toys with a distinct look, including pointed ears, wide eyes, and a toothy grin.
- Popularity:Labubu dolls have become a global phenomenon, with collectors lining up to buy them, especially the blind box editions where the design is a surprise.
- “The Monsters”:Labubu is part of a larger group of characters called “The Monsters,” including Zimomo, Mokoko, and others.
- Mischievous, But Kind:Despite their mischievous appearance, Labubu is described as a well-meaning character who often makes mistakes but has good intentions.
Personally I love the Monsters collection, but I do have an issue with the price. 50 bucks these days doesn’t go far? Not even for a meal out at a fancy restaurant. So, spending 50 bucks on a keychain is a bit much in my eyes. Even for how cute these little monsters are. I hope Popmart will make them in the future that everyone can afford. But right now, I think that is why it’s got such a hype. You can’t get them everywhere New Mexico where I live does not have Popmart. Nor do we have vending machines that we can buy them from. The online site for Popmart never have them available. They only have live events and if you’re lucky you can grab a few or a huge box of them for your collection. Plus, from what I’ve been told there is not a number system on how many you can buy. So, resellers buy them out and price them to heaven. Which is heart breaking for people that really want them for their collection. So popmart I hope you fix that in the future.

Did you get a Labubu? Or you one of those people that have a couple hundred to a couple thousand and will you keep collecting them in the future? Especially right now with this hype going on. Or as soon as the hype is over will you sell your collection because it’s all about the social media and saying look what I got? Just curious.
